HARD SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL 2012
For the first time in its five year history, HARD Summer will span two days for one blockbuster weekend August 3rd & 4th. Set against the stunning downtown Los Angeles skyline, over fifty bands and DJs will perform on four massive stages. Dance the night away with your fellow music fans from across the globe at the largest event to date from the creators of the HARD Haunted Mansion and HOLY SHIP!

Known internationally as a curator and influencer amongst the world’s top DJs, producers, and artists, Wesley Pentz, better known as Diplo, is at the nexus of music, fashion, and cultural trends. His record label Mad Decent has helped bring Brazilian baile funk, Angolan Kuduro, and other unknown music to clubs around the world, while his work as a producer has brought a unique sound to hits like M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes,” Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now,” and Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls).”
128 Beats Per Minute follows Diplo on this fantastic journey, from his involvement with dub reggae in Jamaica to the electro/techno underground in Tel Aviv. Each chapter chronicles his tastes and travels, complete with tweets and playlists, as documented by photographer Shane McCauley. 128 Beats Per Minute provides unique access to the hottest scenes shaping music’s landscape today.

Anthony Valadez hosts his weekly program Monday nights on 89.9 KCRW as well as being a regular contributor to Dublab, an online music resource for music lovers. He is also a voting member of the Recording Academy/NARAS. He has recently dropped his debut full length album on Recordbreakin’. He has recently been featured in publications and press as part of Scion’s RTW campaign by designing a Scion vehicle from a dj’s perspective. He also holds down FAST FWD at LITTLE TEMPLE on Saturday nights. He has had the pleasure of playing alongside Kool Herc, Mixmaster Mike, Little Dragon, Ben Harper, Meshell N’degeocello, Bilal, Robert Glasper, Wajeed, Cee Lo, Les Nubians, Sa Ra Creative Partners, Quadron, Jose James, Doug E Fresh,Build An Ark, Dj Shadow, Sly Stone, The Foreign Exchange, Ledisi, Lalah Hathaway, RES, Talib Kweli, Jason Bentley, Marques Wyatt and so many other inspiring figures. Born in Nottingham, U.K. raised in Los Angeles, California. Aaron has been an active figure in the LA club and recording scene since the late 80′s. Current DJ residencies Fast FWD @ Little Temple, Bounce Rock Soul and One of LA’s signature Eclectic Soul nights, Strictly Social. Aaron was also a seminal figure in the early 90′s rave /loft scene in Los Angeles. DJing Just about every club or bar in the city as well as promoting and spinning at local undergrounds such as Shaolin Temple and Filet of soul parties.

Jamie Odell aka Jimpster and Audiomontage has been producing, remixing and DJing for the last 20 years and co-running his Freerange Records (voted Best British Label 2007) for the last 15 of those. His musical upbringing and early introduction to production (his first release was on influential UK label Jumpin’ & Pumpin’ in 1990 along side labelmates Future Sound Of London) and DJing have helped him forge a sound that is both warm and deep as well as being innovative and club friendly.
His seminal Jimpster LP Messages From The Hub (1997), as well as his early dancefloor orientated Audiomontage 12”s really helped establish Jamie as an artist of some merit and he quickly became in regular demand as a remixer (over 85 at the last count!) and co-producer on a wide range of underground projects. His third Jimpster LP Amour was released 5 years ago on Freerange to excellent critical acclaim and appeared in numerous published Top 20 LP’s of the year charts. In more recent years he has released his first original track for another label, choosing Ben Watt’s Buzzin’ Fly for Square Up which went on to become a big underground house track of the year. His most recent single releases for Freerange include Change In You and Alsace & Lorraine, another deep house anthem and classic in the making, which received support from many of the best house DJ’s out there, and went on to be remixed by Josh Wink and Ripperton to serious effect. Recent artists to get the Jimpster midas touch in the form of a remix include Josh Wink, Photon Inc, Osunlade, Bob Marley, Joris Voorn, Seal, Marc Romboy, Solomun and Kollektiv Turmstrasse.
Over the past 6 or 7 years Jamie has built up a reputation as a highly regarded DJ in the UK and around the world, having played over 100 gigs last year alone. With an emphasis on the deeper end of electronic house, but not afraid to stray from the path, he retains an old school approach that has seen him booked for gigs as diverse as Fabric (London), Panarama Bar and Watergate (Berlin), Cielo (NYC), Warehouse 702 (Tokyo), Zoo Project (Ibiza), D-Edge (Sao Paulo), GOA @ Fabrik (Madrid). This year he won the coveted Danish Deejay Award for Best international DJ set at afterhours club Dunkel as well as winning the Beatport Deep House Producer and Best Deep House Remix of the year in 2010. Jamie is currently working on his fifth studio LP for Freerange scheduled for release later this year.
